Hola. ¿Cómo estás? Hi! How are ya? I’m a multilingual advertising producer. And when I say multilingual, I’m not talking about your garden-variety high school AP Spanish. I was born in Colombia, so mi español es excelente, amigos.
But, I didn’t get into production so I could swear at people in my native tongue. (Although it does come in handy.) I’m a producer because I love the art of storytelling. When I collaborate with writers, designers, directors and clients to bring an idea to life, I feel like I’m doing what I was born to do.
Having a hand in the creation of a story, whether it’s a video, a social campaign, a still photography shoot or even putting together a podcast, is an opportunity I relish every time. To produce a piece of content that makes someone laugh or cry or think is to be part of a powerful experience that only a lucky few get to enjoy.
I am one of those lucky few.
My time in advertising and marketing has given me experience in managing budgets large and small, clients reasonable and insane and account executives resolute and panicky. But, those are practical matters. My true skill is gaining and nurturing the confidence of the teams who entrust me with their stories. Perhaps it’s because they realize I’m just as invested as they are.
